Our second day in the CAR started with a city tour. That week, Bangui happened to host an event dedicated to promotion of entrepreneurship of African women. The official part with presentations took place in the conference hall of the National Assembly building and the square in front of it was turned into a market where female entrepreneurs were selling their goods.

Our group crashed the event but the women welcomed us with small gifts and drinks. Since the building was open to the public that day, we were unexpectedly invited to see the ministers’ offices upstairs and to go into the main hall.

Bangui is a small city with few attractions. One of the interesting places to see was definitely Maison Russe, or the Russian House. It works as a cultural center where people can study Russian, take cooking or dancing classes, watch Russian movies and so on. Maison Russe was also open and we had a look inside.

In the evening, our guide Steve, seeing that we were bored at the hotel, suggested to go to a bar for beers. The atmosphere in the bar was invigorating. The music was loud, people danced between tables and sang or watched soccer on large TV screens.
